Following Irving Katz’s service in the United States Navy during WWII, Ideal Roofing was established in 1952 as a roofing and sheet metal contracting firm. The company has become one of the leaders in the NYC area with an unsurpassed reputation for Old World craftsmanship, safety, integrity, and all around professionalism.

Stuart Katz joined his father, Irving, at Ideal in 1971, where he expanded operations to include exterior building restoration, masonry, and waterproofing. Over the past 55 years, Stuart has established himself and Ideal as an industry leader and a respected hands-on manager. Today, Stuart is the President of Ideal Roofing & Sheet Metal Corp. (a NRCA and NERCA member) and has been or is currently associated with the following: current President and founder of the Exterior Restoration Association; founding member of RoofConnect; and founder and President of the Suspended Scaffold Safety Training Institute.

After finishing SUNY Delhi University in 2004 with a degree in Construction Management, Stuart’s son Daniel joined the company. Today he is Ideal’s VP of Operations and Owner. Daniel, a natural leader, is poised to lead Ideal into the future as he has worked his way through the company’s ranks from field mechanic; service manager; Safety Director; all the way up to Vice President.

Ideal has a strong commitment to safety and has been recognized with multiple Safety Recognition Awards by the roofing insurance company it is a proud member of. The company’s philosophy towards safety is to have deep owner involvement in every project and to treat every employee as a valued family member.
